Flemish AIDS campaign posters & video
Sensoa, a Flemish expert organisation on sexual health and HIV, launched a multimedia campaign called 'Praat over seks!' or 'Talk about Sex' that targeted 20-30 year olds and was also adapted to younger people of all sexual orientations.
Sexuality remains a topic that is difficult to talk about if it gets a personal interpretation. Therefore people tend to start from their own ideas when talking about what the other person feels, how he or she is behaving, what the other person likes. Hence the topic: Talk about sex!
For the campaign, there was an explicit choice for a design actually showing people who make love, from a first deep kiss to more advanced stages of intimacy. However, there is actually nothing explicitly shown (except for a woman's breast or part of a buttock). It is not a campaign about (promoting) anonymous sex; it is about sexuality and the focus is on respect for each other. It considers sexuality as a form of development, in which people respect and recognize each other's limits and wishes. And there is only one 'right' way to know these limits: Talk about sex!
For the advertisements and posters, real people of flesh and blood were invited from the streets. It was a deliberate choice not to work with professional models.

There was also a short video created for television. The video has a rather intimate character and shows a deaf couple. The girl uses sign language to make clear to the boy what she likes. The spot ends with the slogan: 'They can talk about it. So can you.'
