Video and description taken from www.breakingthesilence.info.
In this clip, creative writing by youth is transformed into a video poem that describes what it means to 'break the silence' in a world with HIV/AIDS.
This clip was excerpted from a 28-minute video produced by youth in St. Lucia as part of the Breaking the Silence project. The video is a textured mix of documentary footage, poetry, personal testimonial, interviews, and short fictional scenarios (PSAs). All clips were primarily conceived, shot, directed, and edited by St. Lucian youth aged 14-18. Adult mentors and media professionals provided guidance and general encouragement.
